I’ve been a little wary of this cut from the beginning, but I have a feeling peplum tops will look more flattering on tall women rather than shorter women because we are more statuesque and look leaner. It’s true, that a bad-fitting peplum can accentuate your hips, but if you find the right fit, they can actually make hips look smaller! The key is to find a peplum top in a tall size, and to avoid the hem hitting at the widest part of your hips. You’ll also want to make sure that you’re wearing a slimming bottom, like a fitted pencil skirt or cigarette pants, and be sure the waist of the top is fitted! This one below from Ann Taylor is very slimming!
And here are a few more options for your shopping pleasure:
- Ann Taylor has another Leopard Print Peplum Top that is a safe choice.
- This Ponte Short-Sleeve Peplum Top is from Banana Republic.
- Long Elegant Legs has a Long-Sleeve Peplum Top that has a nice cut.
- This Peplum Jersey Top is a favorite from Long Tall Sally!
So go ahead, be brave with me, and embrace the peplum! It’s very feminine and a fun trend with staying power!
