I’m really liking the ankle boots (or booties), especially for the upcoming fall season. It’s still ridiculously hot here in Texas, but in my mind, fall comes after Labor Day! That’s when I get to start wearing scarves, and jackets, and now, ankle boots! I like my ankle boots to hit at a very specific spot on the ankle, either right above the ankle bone or right below the ankle bone (technically it’s called the lateral malleolus according to my brother and his fiancé, who are in podiatry school). To me, those spots are the slimmest parts on a woman’s ankle. The booties that hit way below or above the ankle bone can cut off the leg making it look shorter, and we do not want that! These Brettly Booties from Nine West are a fun mix of suede and leather which will be great for fall!
Here are a few more options. These are somewhat of a trend right now, so it’s not necessary to go classic or “safe”. Have fun with your choice by getting a bold color or an “of-the-moment” style!
- This Sam Edelman Kit Boot comes in a great color for fall!
- Leopard is another trend this fall which is captured in these Vive Booties by Vince Camuto.
- If you want a classic silhouette that will last for several seasons, these Parker Ankle Boots from J.Crew have a motorcycle edginess to them with a lower heel.
Like I said, have fun with these! I love seeing ankle boots with rolled skinny jeans and a casual jacket or dressed up with a mini skirt and tuxedo jacket! Go all out, and be thankful they are not called malleoli boots!
