Night Cream that Really Works

I had a facial at Bliss a couple of weeks ago, and it was a revelation.  It’s been ages since the last time I had a facial (at least a year), even though I love them.

Facials aside, I’ve always been a minimalist when it comes to skincare. It’s always pretty much been Cetaphil and go. I did start using a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen a few years ago, but I’d say it only ends up on my face every other day at most. Again, minimalist, and perhaps borderline lazy.

Back to the facial. Lately, I’ve been feeling like the wash-and-go routine wasn’t working as well for my (older) skin, so thought the facial might help brighten me up a bit.  The facialist examined my face and told me that, actually, I do seem to have particularly sensitive skin, which was leading to redness and some minor breakouts. She recommended that I start using a very gentle toner after I cleanse and begin using a night cream.  She also told me that at 30 years old, I have to get serious about an eye cream.

For the night cream, the facialist suggested laboratoire remède alchemy advanced night crème. And it is awesome!  I could tell a difference after a few days, and after only a week of using it, a co-worker (unprompted) told me my skin was looking great.  If that’s not a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is (UNPROMPTED!! ONLY A WEEK!!). It was really expensive, so I realize it’s not for everyone, but I’ve been at such a loss when it comes to thirty-something skincare that I was happy to have some direction and good results.

Does anyone else have great night cream (or general skincare) recommendations?
